Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
1. Is Termly free to use?
If you want to generate subsequent policies, gain access to exclusive features, and receive support for additional websites, we also offer comprehensive premium plans. From our selection of paid plans, you can choose the one that best suits your unique business needs.
2. Is it safe to use a policy generator for my website / app?
Absolutely! Each Termly policy is handcrafted by licensed attorneys, adheres to state, federal, and international regulations, and is customized specifically for different business types and platforms.
4. How will I keep my policies up-to-date with state, federal, and international regulations?
Don’t worry! Our team of attorneys are constantly on the lookout for legal changes. When changes are made, we automatically update all of your relevant policies.
5. Can I upload my own policies and edit them in the Termly dashboard?
Currently, users cannot upload policies that they’ve written by themselves onto the Termly dashboard. This rule is for the protection of your business, as crafting your own policy or changing the language of one that we have built may impact the legal validity of the document.
6. I just updated my policy, do I need to let my customers know?
Definitely! As any changes – big or small – will result in what is legally considered an entirely new policy, you need to inform your users of these changes. Luckily, Termly makes this super easy. Just update the policy, enable notifications, and voila! Termly will make sure a dismissible browsewrap banner or clickwrap modal appears on your website each time you update your policy.
7. How can I present my policies to my users?
Where your policy can be accessed depends on your plan and personal preference. For instance, with our premium plan, you can choose to have your policy hosted by Termly or embedded directly into your own website. On the other hand, if you choose to take advantage of our free plan, your policy will be hosted on our servers.
8. How do I embed or link my policies onto my website?
If you subscribe to our premium plan, we’ll give you an embed code that you can easily paste onto your website wherever you please.
If you use our free plan, or if you choose to have Termly host your policy, we’ll provide you with a link you can place on your website or app that points directly to the respective policies you have built.
9. How do I install the notification code snippet onto my website?
All you need to do is copy and paste the code snippet we provide into the <head> of any page where you want to display policy notifications. It’s as easy as that!
10. What is the difference between clickwrap and browsewrap?
Clickwrap agreements, on the other hand, require the user to accept or agree to the site’s policies in order to continue accessing a website. To learn more about what these two agreements entail, how they differ, and which one is best for your website, check out our blog post on clickwrap and browsewrap agreements.
11. How are my pageviews calculated?
12. Can I customize the style of my policy to fit the theme of my website?
Yes! Termly recognizes the importance of ensuring that every aspect of your brand – including your legal policies – aligns with the vision that you’ve worked hard to cultivate. With our premium plan, you get the option to customize the look and feel of your policies to align with your company’s unique personality. Check out our blog post regarding this feature to learn more about customizing the style of your policies.
13. Will I be charged for making multiple policies?
By signing up for a premium plan, you will receive access to unlimited policies. We’ll help you craft all the policies you need – from cookie policies, to returns and refunds, to disclaimers, and more – all at no additional cost. Keep in mind that this only applies to premium members. With our free plan, you will have access to only one free policy.
14. How long does it take to build a policy?
The time it takes for your custom policy to be fully crafted will depend on the type of policy you wish to create. The following are approximate estimates of how long your policy will take to craft in full:
- Terms & Conditions – 13 minutes
- Refund & Return Policy – 7 minutes
- Disclaimer – 11 minutes
