Deeper Dive Into Features and Solutions
Now I’ll look closer at the different features and solutions offered by both Termly and Osano.
Free Services
Both Osano and Termly offer free services, but Termly’s free plans are more comprehensive than Osano’s and there is more information about it on their website.
What Termly Gives Free Users
New users who sign up for Termly’s free plan get access to the following solutions:
- Access to any 1 of the policy generators
- Cookie policy generator and cookie banner
- Cookie script auto-blocker
- HTML embeddable policies
- Quarterly cookie scans
Termly also has nine free templates available with clauses and legal considerations that are comparable to their generators.
Their free resources are a huge asset for businesses looking to more easily and affordably align with privacy laws on their own.
What Osano Gives Free Users
They also have a free plan of their cookie consent management platform available for 1 user with 1 domain that supports up to 5,000 monthly visitors.
However, their free plan does not include access to privacy policy templates such as privacy policy, cookies policy nd data processing addendum.
Additionally, Osano offers a free 30-day trial of their Plus plan, which includes access to all policy templates and the appointment of Osano as the user’s GDPR representative.
Paid Services
Next, I’m compare Termly’s paid plans to those from Osano.
Termly’s more transparent about their pricing structure than Osano, and they appear to have more levels of plans available to suit different budgeting needs.
Termly’s Paid Plans
There are two Termly paid plans available for businesses:
- Starter Plan: $14/month when billed monthly, $10/month when billed annually
- Pro+ Plan: $20/month when billed monthly, $15/month when billed annually
- Agency: Custom
The Starter Plan gives users access to any two policy generators and Termly’s Consent Management Platform with up to 50,000 banner views.
The Pro+ Plan gives users access to all of Termly’s policy generators and the CMP with unlimited banner views, and it unlocks several additional benefits:
- Multi-language supports
- Weekly cookie scans

The benefits at this level include everything in the Pro+ Plan and:

- Training & onboarding
- Compliance support
- Bulk import and more!

Osano’s Paid Options
For a company that advertises visible privacy on their website, they are less transparent about the actual price associated with their various plans.
However, their pricing page states that the Plus plan of their consent management platform is available for $199 per month. A Custom plan for enterprise level businesses is also available.
Notably, Osano’s pricing page does not include any discounts for annual subscriptions.
Otherwise, Osano’s pricing page highlights an assortment of features categorized by product titles, but it isn’t clear about what levels are available in which plan and how much they cost.
For instance, it does not explicitly list the privacy templates you would have access to or how many data subject requests you can handle through the platform.
Policy Generators
It’s difficult to beat Termly’s policy generators, which are comprehensive, well-rounded, and legally backed.
Currently, Termly has nine policy generators and nine free templates available for businesses:
The Termly team reviews and updates the generators regularly to account for new and evolving privacy laws that impact businesses.
Osano doesn’t advertise generators specifically. Instead, they offer customizable policy templates available as part of their Plus plan, which include the following:
- California Do Not Sell/Share Statement
- California Notice of Financial Incentive
- CCPA/CPRA Service Provider Addendum
- Cookie Policy
- Data Processing Addendum
- EU Standard Contractual Clauses
- GDPR Statement
- Privacy Policy
Consent Management
Both Osano and Termly offer strong consent management solutions for businesses.
Termly’s CMP is ideal for businesses under one or more privacy law, because it has essential features like a customizable consent banner, frequent website scans and an automatically updated cookie policy, regional consumer rules, and multi-language supports.
Termly’s CMP is easy to use, no matter what level of technical knowledge you have.
Osano’s consent management platform is also well-rounded and features a customizable cookie banner with a visual dashboard, detailed consent logs, and consent data.
They have features like GRC Tech Stack integrations.
One thing of note, while both Termly and Osano are Google CMP Partners, only Termly attained Gold status. At the time of researching this article, Osano holds Silver status.
Privacy Law Compliance
Both Termly and Osano products help businesses align with major privacy laws.
That said, Termly’s privacy policy generator appears to cover more laws than the template available from Osano.
Termly’s privacy policy generator currently accommodates 30 privacy laws, and they add new laws often. To learn more, check out the ‘What laws does Termly cover’ resource article.
Osano’s website mentions that these templates can help with compliance for the EU’s GDPR and California’s CCPA/CPRA. However, there’s no mention of other key privacy laws, like Brazil’s LGPD or Australia’s privacy regulations.
Users can also configure Termly’s CMP to meet the opt-in and opt-out requirements of laws in over 80 regions.
Osano’s CMP can help with compliance with privacy laws in +50 countries.
Customer Support
Termly has several easy customer support options, including a chatbot, an online form, and a support center on its website.
But a huge benefit to Termly is that they offer help from real humans.
A live chat and phone line connects users with a customer support team of real people, and its conveniently available Monday through Friday, 9 am to 6 pm EST.
Osano also has live experts, an online form, and a support center available on its website.
There’s also a dedicated audit and regulatory support option to help businesses follow through on their “No Fines, No Penalties
guarantee.
However, this guarantee in only available to enterprise level customers and is highly unlikely to be relevant to start-ups or medium-sized businesses.
Customer Reviews + Business Accolades
Termly is much higher rated on than Osano on Trustpilot, but this is because Osano only has a single review, while Termly has almost 500:
- Termly earned a 4.7 ‘excellent’ out of 5 stars on Trustpilot based on 483 reviews.
- Osano earned a 3.2 ‘average’ out of 5 stars on Trustpilot based on 1 review.
Termly customers appear to love the high quality, kind, and fast customer support team, the ease of use of the products, and the broad legal scope and support available.
Osano customers appear to like how simple using the platform is and enjoy their customer support interactions.
Additional Features
Both Termly and Osano offer various additional features.
For example, Osano has a unique $500,000 “No Fines, No Penalties” Guarantee.
However, this guarantee has so many limitations that it is highly unlikely to be useful to small and medium-sized businesses. Firstly, this is only available to their Enterprise level customers on a ‘Start’, ‘Trust’, or ‘Scale’ plan who implement all Osano products based on their documentation.
Adjusting Osano products without their approval, which includes changing the text or button sizes, voids the guarantee.
Plus, most fines go well beyond $500,000. For example, under the EU and UK GDPR, penalties can reach up to €20 million.
An additional feature of Termly that really makes them stand out as a business-friendly SaaS product is the all-in-one scope of their solutions.
With a Pro+ plan, your business gets privacy compliance, consent management, and legal web policy creation all in one dashboard.
The ability to manage your shipping and return policies in the same location as your privacy policy and terms and conditions is incredibly convenient, organized, and streamlines several essential business obligations that are otherwise typically tedious and disorderly.
The generators also feature tips and answers to commonly asked questions made by their legal team to help users more easily create their policies.
See an example of one of these tips in the screenshot below.
Agencies/Partnerships
Both Termly and Osano offer customized agency/partnership/reseller programs.
Termly’s Agency plan is ideal for resellers, agencies, and those with multiple websites.
It features everything in the Pro+ as well as additional benefits, including:
- Bulk pricing discounts
- Multi-domain management
- Multi-user permissions
- Customized marketing materials
- Training and onboarding support
- Compliance support
- Bulk importing, and more!
Check out Termly’s Agency Page to learn more.
Osano’s reseller program includes:
- Billing customers directly using their payment processing
- Long-term revenue share
- Co-marketing supports
- Is best for “agencies, MSPs, or consultants with existing clients”.
Which One Is Right for You?
Termly and Osano are recognizable names in the data privacy compliance world, and for good reason. Their tools are easy to use, comprehensive, and help businesses around the world meet legal guidelines.
Termly is more affordable overall than Osano, and Pro+ members can access all nine of their legal policy generators, providing websites with pretty much everything needed to start and scale a business.
When it comes to picking the best data privacy and consent management solution for your business, the choice is yours.
